G V Prakash scores a jackpot Bala's next Statue

Y
oung and upcoming music director G.V. Prakash Kumar is sure making heads turn.  GVP, niece of music wizard A.R. Rehman, was the music of the national award-winning film Aadukalam.  He also scored the music of director Selvaraghavan's magnum opus Aayirathil Oruvan early last year.  It was the first time that Selvaa had gone for a music director other than Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Creative-minded director Bala, who takes his own time in making his films, has always gone for either 'Maestro' Ilaiyaraaja (Sethu, Pithamagan & Naan Kadavul) or Yuvan Shankar Raja (Nandha, Avan Ivan).  It appears that he has finally decided to move out of the Maestro's family to select another music director for his upcoming film.  Though it's not confirmed as yet, it is said that the lanky Atharva, son of late Murali, would be cast in the lead role in Bala's next film.

GVP debuted as a singer when he was a young boy by crooning the first few lines of the popular song Chikku bukku rayilu... from the film Gentleman, which had music by his Uncle A.R. Rahman.  He debuted as music director with director Vasanthabalan's soul-searching film Veyil a few years back.  He also scored the music of superstar Rajinikanth's Kuselan and then followed successful films such as Madarasapattinam, Angaadi Theru and Aadukalam.

He now has a couple of real biggies in his kitty.  Other than Bala's upcoming film, he has also bagged the chance to score the music of director Bharathiraaja's upcoming venture Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum which might also mark the comeback of actress Priyamani in Kollywood.

Let him flourish like his Uncle!
